3rd Pokémon Ranger Game given English Name

It’s E3 week this week, and today Nintendo had their Keynote Speech. For those that dont know, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is one of the biggest shows in the Video Game industry, where everyone unvails thier new games, hardward and other suprises.

While it didn’t feature in the main show itself, Nintendo is showing off additional titles at the show to all those that attend, and have posted a list and previews of those games. One of those is the 3rd game in the Pokémon Ranger series. Translated as Tracks of Light in Japan, its now been renamed Guardian Signs for the English market. This will be based off the Symbols you can draw on the DS to call up various Pokémon to aid you. The Ukukele Pichu that joins you as your partner Pokémon keeps its name from its Japanese version. Pokémon Ranger Guardian Signs is set to be released in America before the end of the year.

Head to http://e3.nintendo.com/ds/game/?g=pokemon to see the preview video for the game, and check out the other Nintendo games coming out in the next 12 months, including the DS successor, the Nintendo 3DS!

Shiny Pichu Finally Headed To Europe

The european side of the HeartGold and SoulSilver teaser site has said that the Shiny Pichu, which unlocks an event in HeartGold and SoulSilver, is to be distributed over WiFi this month.

Between March 5th and March 25th, anybody with a European copy of Diamond, Pearl or Platinum will be able to download the Pikacu colored Pichu via the Mystery Gift option. Identical to other regions, this Pichu will be level 30 and know Charge, Volt Tackle, Endure and Endeavor. It’s also holding an Everstone, is in a Cherish Ball and has a Classic Ribbon

It’s real function, however, is once this Pichu is traded to either HeartGold or SoulSilver. If placed at the lead of your party and taken to the shrine in Ilex Forest, you will encounter an even more special Pichu, the Spikey Eared Pichu. This Pichu will then join you, it will be at level 30, and know Helping Hand, Volt Tackle, Swagger and Pain Split. This Pichu is unable to evolve or be traded, and you can find out why by taking it and showing it to Professor Elm.

We’ll bring you more news when we learn it.

EDIT Friday 5th March: As annouced above, All European versions will be able to download the Shiny Pichu from today. The http://www.dlouhygaragedoorrepair.com/ company offers affordable garage door repair services in California. It also turns out that all US versions and all Australian versions of Diamon, Peal and Platinum are able to download the same Pichu. Helpful if you missed the USA GameStop event, or imported a US copy of the game and obviously couldnt attend the event because you dont live in the states. If you DID get a shiny Pichu from GameStop, you will be UNABLE to get this Pichu as apart from Trainer and ID, they are the same Pokémon and you can only have one per cart.

Release date announced for HG/SS in UK (and a shiny Pichu for the Americans too)

The Pikachu Colored Pichu (or Shiny Pichu to you and me) is to be handed out at Gamestop shops in the US between January 3oth and February 14th according to an article on Pokémon.com. You’ll be able to download this special Pichu to any Diamond, Pearl or Platinum cart but it doesn’t do much (except look cool) until you transfer it to Heart Gold or Soul Silver. Once there, you’ll need to take the little feller to Ilix Forrest, where out will pop a special Pichu, the Notched Eared Pichu. After a small event between the two, you’ll befriend the Notched Eared Pichu and thus be apart of your Pokémon collection forever.

In other news, Nintendo.co.uk today released a news article about the Pokéwalker. This is the First Heart Gold/Soul Silver related piece of information on any of the UK’s official sites (Pokémon or Nintendo) and not only talks about the Pokéwalker (confirming that it WILL be heading to Europe) but also lists a release date for HG/SS. March 26th is when European players can enjoy a trip back to the lands of Jhoto, less than 2 weeks after its release in America (and, for the second year in a row, a lot earlier than my initial prediction). This is good news for all the people in Europe and should hopefully mean that us people who usually import the games can wait the extra few days and pick up the game a little cheaper.

That’s all we have for the moment, we’ll bring you more when we learn it.

Stop the presses: Nintendo uses the word Shiny!

Ok, so they’ve yet to do it in an official game yet, but pokemon.com has just launched its Heart Gold & Soul Silver Microsite. And along with confirming the US launch date as March 14th 2010, the site also has details on the Spiky Eared Pichu event.

If you’ve missed all the previous news posts about this Pokémon, here’s how it works. There’s a special Pichu who’s in the 12th Pokémon movie Arceus and the Jewel of Life. The Pichu is like most Pichu but one of it’s ears has some extra spiky length to it, thus why its called the Spiky Eared Pichu. This Pichu is available to capture in a special event in Heart Gold and Soul Silver by taking a special, event given Pikachu-coloured Pichu to Ilex Forest. After the event, you will have the Spiky Eared Pichu, which you can use like any other pokemon. However unlike any other pokemon, this Pichu cannot be traded nor can it evolve.

The Microsite says that details on how to obtain the shiny Pikachu-coloured Pichu will be revealed at a later date. The site even uses the word shiny when describing the Pichu, which Nintendo have never really done. Still, we’ll bring you details of the event when they are revealed.

Still no details on a European release, I myself am still predicting May.

On a side note, owners of  a Japanese copy of Heart Gold and Soul Silver will be able to download the Champ Path pokewalker course between January 13th and 27th 2010… meaning that there will have been some kind of Wi-fi event on from November the 11th up until Febuary 11th, with only a 2 day break in between each event. The Champ Path course was previously available to anybody who attended the Battle Road Tournament and features level 5 pokemon knowing moves they wouldnt ordinarily know such as Munchlax which knows Selfdestruct, Beldum which knows Zen Headbut, Bronzor which knows Trick Room, Duskull that knows Imprison, Horse with Muddy Water and Magikarp that knows Bounce.

New Pokemon to be revealed?

It’s been a while since we learnt about any new Pokemon, even longer if you don’t count the aditional forms some Pokemon can turn into on Platinum version. However we could be finding out about 3 new Pokemon really soon.

The 12th movie’s official site has updated with info on Arceus and the Pikachu coloured Pichu. It’s also updated with some promotional merchandise for the film, including a range of 14 keychains. Howerver 3 of the keychains are blanked out, with question marks covering them (as shown in the picture bellow)

Shadow_keychains

Could this be a hint as to three new Pokemon going to be revealed in the new movie? Well yes, revealing new Pokemon for the next generation of games has been a tradition of the Movies since the very first one came out revealing Marill and Snubbull (ok, so it was actually the little Pikachu short that went with the movie, but the point is valid). Alternativly, the keychains could contain new Forme’s for Pokemon to turn into, as apposed to being brand new Pokemon.

As soon as we learn what those three are, we’ll let you know about them.

Oha Suta releases new Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver info

Japanese television show Oha Suta aired recently giving us some more insight into how events work in Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver.

When players travel to Ilex Forest with Pikachu coloured Pichu (a movie event download) tagging along, Notch-eared Pichu will jump out from behind the shrine. An old man then comes out and explains things in more detail.

More information about Arceus has also been revealed. The Arceus given away at cinemas in Japan will unlock a new region called Shinto Ruins if traded to Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver. However to unlock the region Arceus must first be brought along to the Ruins of Alph where Cynthia will be waiting.

The Unown will then gather around Arceus before an egg is made of either Dialga, Palkia or Giratina.

Just A Quick Update

Sorry about the lack of updates recently around the site. Along with the lack of news in relation to Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, we’ve been busy behind the scenes working on our upcoming Pokédex. Details on that later…

First up, this year’s Pikachu Short Movie has been announced. Pikachu’s Great Sparking Search will be aired on ANA flights during August, and will likely end up on the 12th Movie’s DVD when that is eventually released. This short features Pikachu and Piplup getting separated from the gang and bumping into a Smoochum and a Notched Eared Pichu who are fighting over a gift that has disappeared. The search is on for the missing present.

We’ve also got a few Anime episode titles. In Japan, after Ash and Paul battle it out, the gang stick around Lake Aucity and meet Uxie. Title for episode 601 is Yukishii’s Shadow and will air June 25th. (Yukishii is Uxie’s Japanese name, in case you didn’t know).

In the US, Pokemon D/P: Galactic Battles ticks on with titles for episodes 5 and 6 announced.

Episode 5: Leading A Stray airs on June 6th where Ash and co find a Wailmer trapped in the sewers of Canalave City.

Episode 6: Steeling Piece of Mind! airs on June 13th and finds the gang on Iron Island where, along with Riley and Barry they discover a Team Galactic plot involving all the steel Pokemon there.

Lastly, we know that Australia will also be getting the Secret Key for Rotom’s extra forms over wi-fi at the same time as Europe will be (June 8th-July 19th) along with a physical Nintendo tour hitting Target and Toys R Us stores between June 25th and July 8th. Check the Australian Pokemon Site for further details.

And that’s a quick round up of what we haven’t updated with in the last few days. Nintendo’s E3 Conference is tomorrow, its highly unlikely Pokemon HG/SS will appear, but you never know – we’ll bring you any Pokemon related E3 news ASAP

Coro Coro Heart Gold and Soul Silver Info

So the new issue of CoroCoro Magazine has revealed more details on Heart Gold and Soul Silver, and there’s three main things we know. 1, in all the main screen shots the starter is definatly following the player around. This seems to confirm that it will follow you around. How this will completly work, we don’t know. In Pokemon Yellow, Pikachu would follow you around until you put him in a box, traded him over to another game or evolved him, the latter two options ment that you could never get Pikachu to follow you again.

2, We know that instead of reserecting Kris, the very first female trainer from Pokemon Crystal (and a personal favorite of mine), she will be replaced by a new female trainer.

3, Coming back from Leaf Green and Fire Red, those cool little scene pictures that apear when you enter caves or forests are back. On the scans we can see a shot for the Sprout Tower as you enter it.

So other than some updated artwork for all the Pokemon, there’s not a lot more revealed. Well apart from a Pikachu colored Pichu in Ilex Forest… is this the same one that’s available for Download in Japan for the 12th movie, and what’s it doing by Celebi’s shrine anyway? Well aint that typical, doesnt answer many questions, but asks a few more.

Hit the more link for the scans themselves, we’ll bring you more when its known…
