New Pokémon Wii Game Announced

Sorry about the lack of updates to the news blog recently, amongst thinking I posted something earlier but didn’t (see the end of this post for more on that), I’ve been a bit busy. However, do look for a new competition in the general chat section of the forums this Sunday (18th)

Nintendo officially announced a new Pokémon Wii game today. Poképark Wii: Pikachu’s Big Adventure see’s the most famous Pokémon roaming around a giant amusement park called the Poképark. Pikachu will want to have a go on some of the rides, but unfortunately, a lot of the rides require Pokémon abilities Pikachu just doesn’t possess. The Marine Slider game needs a Pokémon who’s good at swimming to fully enjoy it, and only a flying Pokémon can partake in the Habataki Sky Race.

So what’s a yellow mouse Pokémon to do? Well make friends of course. By teaming up with other Pokémon that are visiting the park, you’ll be able to play mini games with them to become friends, allowing you team up and take on the rides. Mini games include playing a game of tag, battling your soon to be friend, and taking part in a quiz, answering questions on Pokémon.

Being able to take pictures in game and save them to an SD card (and possibly send them to your Wii friends) and with graphics far better than the likes of Pokémon Ranch or Pokémon Rumble (we’ll try and get some pictures for you soon), this looks to be a good, fun title for the Wii. Poképark Wii: Pikachu’s Big Adventure will be released in Japan on December 5th. No details about an English release yet.

As for the next piece of news, I was sure I updated with this, but it seems like I haven’t. Sorry. Anyway, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky has been given a European release date of November 20th. The third Mystery Dungeon game on DS, recently released in the US, features some additional maps, starters and partners from the previous two instalments, plus some other updated features.

That’s all we have for now. We’ll bring you more when we know it.

Lots of News

It’s been a week since Heart Gold and Soul Silver were released in Japan and we’ve managed to clear up some things about what’s new to the game. A lot of this information is just specifics as to stuff mentioned in the last news post. If you’re interested in any of it, head on over to the Heart Gold Soul Silver section of our forums and ask for explanations in anything you’re interested in.

In other news, the 12th movie has been given an English title. Arceus and the Jewel of Life is the third and final in the Diamond and Pearl movies, following on from The Rise of Darkrai and Giratina and the Sky Warrior. This movie will see Ash and friends in Michina Town which has a long history with the legendary Pokémon. According to legend, after the creation Pokémon gave the townspeople some of its power (the Jewel of Life mentioned in the title), the people then betrayed Arceus. As you can imagine, Arceus isn’t best pleased over this, and its rage sets to destroy the world. With the help of Dialga, Ash and co head back in time to try and undo all mistakes made.

There’s no release date yet on the 12th movie, but like the Arceus reveal itself, this reveal is a few months earlier than it has traditionally been in previous years, leading me to believe that it could be released earlier than the Easter/early spring release the movies usually get.

Speaking of Arceus, the creation Pokémon is the subject of the next TCG set due for release on November 4th. Platinum – Arceus will have over 100 cards, including multiple energy types of the main Pokémon itself.

Back to Heart Gold and Soul Silver, a couple of the things we’ve learned is that a lot of Sinnoh and Hoenn Pokémon show up in the wild. During the bug contest in the National Park, if you try it on a Thursday or a Saturday after you get the national dex, Hoenn and Sinnoh bug types will show up, including Wurmple and Kricketot. Also after getting the national dex, the music channel will play either the Hoenn sound on Wednesday or the Sinnoh sound on Thursday. Played in various areas across Johto and Kanto, these two sounds can make either Hoenn or Sinnoh Pokémon show up in the wild.

Also, if you’ve got a copy of HG or SS, don’t forget to download the special Yellow Forest Pokéwalker course. This course features a lot of Pikachu, some of which may know surf and fly… otherwise impossible moves for a Pikachu to know.

That’s all for the moment, we might update with some more HG/SS news/features/explanations soon. Otherwise, more news when we learn it.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky dated

The 3rd Pokemon Mystery Dungeon instalment, Explorers of Sky, has been given  a release date for the United States according to GameStop. Like Platinum is to Diamond and Pearl, Explorers of Sky is a revist to the games of Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness and features most of the same game. Improvements and additions to the game include 6 additional starters to chose from, new areas to explorer including Destiny’s Tower and Shaymin village, and then there are additional missions inbetween the main storyline, you’ll be able to play as some Non Playable Characters in special missions to learn more about them.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorersof Sky will be released on October 1st acording to GameStop. However since this is a thursday, and games in the US are usually released on a tuesday, it could change. Nintendo of Europe recently released their Q3 release schedule (which goes up to the end of September) and the new PMD game isn’t listed, so there’s no date for europe yet.

We’ll bring you more when we find it.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver dated for Release

The Official site for Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver got a very small update today, but it was with some important information. The release date for the Japanese launch of HG/SS will be September 12th (a Saturday, if your interested). They will be on sale for ¥4800 each. This is around the same time as the past few years when Pokemon games have been released (Diamond/Pearl and Platinum all were released in September in Japan). If the US and European releases follow the same as they have for the past couple of years, the US should see the games around early Spring/Easter time while Europe should see it around late Spring/early Summer. Those are guesses however and as soon as we know the actuall release date’s for those two areas, we’ll let you know.

In other Pokemon news, Pokemon Center stores in Japan are giving away some special Jirachi merchandice in celebration of the Tanabata festival in August. From 21st July to Aug 26th, Showing the special Jirachi knowing Draco Meteor (available for download over Wi-fi on all Japanese Diamond, Pearl and Platinum games between June 19th to July 17) will get you the special Jirachi merchandice. The store will also be selling a special Jirachi Plush Doll on July 1st for ¥980

That’s all we have for now – we’ll bring you more when we learn about it

New Pokemon Game Announced

And No, it’s NOT about Heart Gold/Soul Silver.

This is one that passed by E3, possibly due to the fact that at the moment, its only planned in Japan. The official Japanese Pokemon site has revealed that Pokemon is coming back to WiiWare on June 16 with Melee! Pokemon Scramble, a beat em up featuring a variaty of Pokemon. Modes include a Battle Royal where all Pokemon fight in an arena and a Story Mode, described as levels that end in a Giant Pokemon Boss Battle. multiplayer features a 2 player Co-Op and up to 4 player Staidum mode. You’ll also be able to take screen shots and send them to friends via the Wii’s message board

Players will be able to fully control thier Pokemon around the arenas and chose what attacks to use and when, its said that each Pokemon will have 2 special moves. More Pokemon to play as will be unlocked as you play through the story mode, as well as password being given out for more rarer Pokemon. The whole game will set Japanese Wii owners 1500 points

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky at E3

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky made an appearance at E3 in the form of a video, box art and a release date.

Official boxart

The game, released in Japan on 18 April 2009, has been given a release date of Autumn 2009, which presumably is for North America. No word on a European release date yet.

As soon as a video surfaces, it will be uploaded to our YouTube account and added to this post.

Europe Platinum and Secret Key

Just a quick note, all those of you who live within the Euopean Region can now get their hand’s on Pokemon Platinum from today. The 3rd DS game features an enhanced storyline, battle frontier and some alternate forms for some Pokemon not available in D/P. Giratina has an Origin Forme for when he’s in the Reverse world (and once you get an item that can be attached). Trade your Event Shaymin from earlier this year over to Platinum and it will help you obtain an item capable of changing its form to its new ‘Sky Forme’ (its a temporary transformation, only when its in your party and during the day but you can re-use the item)… and then there is Rotom

Rotom has 5 new forms it can transform into, all of which are hidden in a secret room in the building Team Galactic made its home in Eternia City. You’ll need the Secret Key to get it, America just finished up thier event that allowed them to download the key via Wi-Fi recently and now its been dated for the European versions. Head onto Wi-Fi between June 8th and July 19th  to get your Key.

That’s all for now, back later when we know something else

New Pokemon Game to be Announced

We’ve gotten reports out of Japan that something big is about to go down in the Pokemon world.

Basically there was an announcement today that on next week’s Pokemon Sunday show (a Pokemon based variety show), they will be announcing something big in their games section. This announcement (although not 100% confirmed) is likely to do with a new game… a BRAND new game. Could this finally be about the Gold/Silver remake that has been hinted about since as far back as Diamond and Pearl was released? Yes it could… of course if could also be about a new ranger, mystery dungeon or even some other spin off (remember Trozi/Link?). That said, this autumn happens to be the 10th anniversary since G/S’s release in Japan (seriously… and it will be the 10th anni of R/B in the UK), so a G/S remake released about then would be timely.

On a side note: this announcement probably has nothing to do with a rumour that Nintendo had asked US game stockist ‘GameStop’ to reserve some space for a BIG game being released in the latter part of this year. Since Pokemon games have a longer space between being released in Japan and US than other franchises, a Japan release of autumn for a Pokemon game would not be available in the US until early spring, based off past years.

On a completely different note: US Platinum Players, don’t forget to get on Wi-Fi and download the Secret Key to be able to get Rotom to become other forms. You’ve only got until the 12th of May to do it, so if you haven’t done it yet, do it now. Japanese Platinum Players, that Oak’s letter is only going to be available till the 11th of May, so you need to hurry up as well

That’s all we have, we’ll update you on this news next week.
